Birds – Double Barrel Game Farm

We raise high quality eggs, chicks, started and flighted pheasant, quail, and chukar

Double Barrel Game Farm and Hatchery raises approximately 200,000 mature birds on our farm near McCool Junction, Nebraska. Our facilities include a complete state-of-the-art hatchery, heated
brooder houses, and 90 acres of netted flight pens.

At Double Barrel Game Farm & Hatchery we believe in
creating the most wild-like environment for our growing birds while also place an heavy emphasis on welfare and biosecurity. Flight pens are sized
all the way up to 85 feet wide by 1000 feet long, with the top net being
suspended at 14 feet. The flight pens are seeded to koisa to provide thick and
“wild like” cover for our growing birds and replicate wild hunting grounds.

We employ an ambitious staff of full-time and part-time
workers who work together to produce the healthiest and strongest gamebirds in
the country. This is accomplished by focusing on genetics, welfare, and
nutrition. Our nutritionist focuses on diets with high protein and
well-balanced micro-minerals

Pheasants

At Double Barrel, pheasants are our passion. We raise a robust selection of ring-necked pheasants. Our birds are bred and raised to be of the highest quality with a heavy focus on genetics that keep them as close as possible to native ringnecks. We raise our own breeders allowing us to offer eggs, started, and flighted birds.

Our mature birds are raised in large flight pens sized up to 85 feet wide and 1000 feet long, giving ample space and opportunity to develop into excellent flyers. The flight pens are seeded to kochia to provide thick and “wild like” cover for our growing birds. Our nutritionist focuses on diets with high protein and well-balanced micro-minerals to ensure the healthiest and strongest birds in the country.

Chukar

Our chukar eggs are hatched on site to provide day-old, started, and mature birds. We produce some of the largest and flightiest birds in the industry with a heavy focus on nutrition and care.

Quail

We offer an excellent selection of Bobwhite quail that are hatched on site to provide day-old chicks, started, and mature birds. Each year we produce robust birds for breeders, dog trainers, and outfitters across the country.

Eggs

Pheasant eggs are available from March-July. We hand pick, wash and prep all eggs on site for delivery nationwide.

Day-Old Chicks

We offer freshly hatched pheasant, quail, and chukar for nationwide delivery from our facility in McCool Junction, NE.

-Orders over 5,000 chicks are eligible for delivery via our transport vehicles.

-Any order under 5,000 chicks can be picked up at our hatchery.

-All orders come with 4% free chicks included!

Started Birds

We offer started pheasant, quail and chukar at 6-8 weeks of age. Pheasants can be provided with blinders applied.

-These birds are available for pickup at our farm or delivery.

-Started birds are ready for delivery to holding facilities or wild release

Mature Birds

We offer mature pheasant, quail, and chukar starting in August of each year. While we do have an abundant supply, it’ s not unlimited. Therefore, we offer discounted rates for birds contracted by April 15th of each year so we can ensure that we’ll have birds for you when you want ’em!

-Birds can be released into flight pens, wild released, or delivered in our CoxBox for your convenience.

-We can deliver up to 3500 birds at a time within 1000 miles of our farm near McCool Junction, NE

-We require a minimum order of 500 birds for any deliveries over 300 miles, but any quantity can be picked up at our farm.
